This case study highlights an Indoor Air Quality Assessment carried out by Sysco Environmental in Mayfair, London, within a historic commercial retail property. The investigation was commissioned to evaluate environmental conditions in the lower levels of the building, where staff had raised concerns about comfort, ventilation and potential air quality issues.
Our occupational hygiene specialists conducted a structured Indoor Air Quality Assessment to review several factors that influence indoor environments, including airborne microbes, common chemical pollutants, ventilation performance, airborne dust and general environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. By assessing multiple areas of the property, the investigation provided a clear picture of how the indoor air behaved across the building.
The assessment confirmed that most indoor air quality indicators were within normal ranges, with no significant concerns relating to chemical pollutants, dust or ventilation. However, elevated humidity levels were identified within the sub-basement areas of the property. While this had not yet resulted in mould contamination, the conditions could lead to condensation and damp issues if not properly managed.
This Indoor Air Quality Assessment in Mayfair, London provided the client with clear, evidence-based recommendations to improve moisture control and maintain a healthy indoor environment. The project demonstrates how proactive environmental monitoring helps businesses identify potential risks early and maintain safe, comfortable workplaces.
