In September 2024, an air monitoring assessment was carried out at a facility in Burton Latimer to evaluate inhalable and respirable dust levels to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Workers in various areas particularly around AP6 production lines, were tested for exposure to airborne dust. Personal and static monitors were set up to measure dust concentration levels across shifts.
The findings showed that inhalable dust levels were within safety limits but reached nearly 56% of the Workplace Exposure Limit (WEL), highlighting a need for continued precautions. The report recommended regular deep cleaning and using local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems to reduce dust build-up, alongside proper training for employees on dust management. Enhanced housekeeping, avoiding dry sweeping, and consistent use of respiratory protection for specific tasks were also advised to maintain a safe working environment.
