Most vibration on construction sites comes from heavy or repetitive ground-impact activities. Common sources include:
Piling (driven or impact piling creates strong ground vibration)
Concrete breaking and demolition using hydraulic breakers
Vibratory rollers used for compacting soil
Excavators and tracked machinery, especially on hard ground
HGV movements, particularly if they cross potholes or temporary steel plates
Drilling and cutting works in certain conditions
Not every activity produces vibration strong enough to worry about. But when work is close to residents, historic buildings, or vibration-sensitive facilities (like labs or hospitals), boundary monitoring helps everyone stay ahead of potential problems.
