If your building is pre-historic or was built before 1930 — or in some cases as late as the 1950s — and still has original plaster or insulation, it may need a survey, especially if you’re planning renovation or demolition. Other triggers include signs of horsehair plaster, historic industrial use, or when a risk assessment flags possible contamination. If in doubt, it’s always safer to commission an anthrax survey before work begins.
