Sysco Environmental Ltd conducted a historic plaster survey and sampling at an operating label printing factory in Leeds, built at the beginning of the century and planning major upgrades. The survey aimed to identify the presence of animal hair in plaster and potential Bacillus anthracis contamination. The two-storey, partially dilapidated building underwent a comprehensive visual inspection and sampling of all accessible areas. Despite access limitations, thorough analysis was performed on the collected samples. The UKAS accredited Rare and Imported Pathogens Laboratory analysed the samples, with results indicating no detection of Bacillus anthracis or animal hair in the plaster. Consequently, no further remedial actions are required. All procedures followed strict health and safety protocols to ensure minimal risk to future occupants and visitors.
