An anthrax testing assessment was carried out at a property in Hampton in Arden, focusing on the analysis of a plaster sample to check for the presence of Bacillus anthracis, the bacterium that causes anthrax. The sample was taken from Unit 1, following concerns that the material might be contaminated.
The test results showed that no traces of Bacillus anthracis were found in the sample. This means that the plaster is not contaminated, and there’s no risk of anthrax exposure at the site. Although anthrax is rare and primarily affects herbivores, it can be transmitted to humans through contact with infected animals or contaminated materials.
The report emphasised that while no anthrax was detected, proper safety protocols should always be followed when dealing with historical materials that might have been in contact with animal products. Overall, the negative test results provide assurance that the site is safe from anthrax, but routine caution is still advised during any future renovation or refurbishment work
