Sysco Environmental LTD conducted an asbestos survey taking a deep dive into a property in Huntingdon to identify any potential asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) before planned renovations. The focus was on key areas like the boiler and plant rooms, where materials like asbestos cement were either confirmed or presumed to be present. These findings help ensure safety during refurbishment, pinpointing materials to handle with care.
Our surveyors thoroughly inspected accessible spaces, collecting samples to confirm the type and condition of materials. While some asbestos-containing materials were identified, like panelling in the boiler room and within plant equipment, most were in good condition and pose a very low risk if left undisturbed. Recommendations ranged from professional removal of certain materials to regular inspections for ongoing safety.
This project highlighted the importance of asbestos surveys in older properties, especially before construction work. By identifying and managing potential hazards, these surveys protect workers and occupants while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The findings serve as a roadmap for maintaining a safe and hazard-free space, reminding everyone that caution is key when dealing with materials from a different era. Safe management or professional removal is the way to go for peace of mind and a safe environment.
