The Mould and Damp Assessment our team at Sysco Environmental conducted in a Plymouth property focused on identifying areas affected by moisture and fungal growth, particularly in several rooms across different floors. The assessment aimed to address concerns about air quality and dampness, which can affect the well-being of occupants.
Upon inspection, mould contamination was found around windows, walls, and various rooms in the building, particularly in areas like the basement X-ray room, staff rooms, and kitchen. The findings indicated that certain areas were more prone to moisture build-up, primarily due to poor ventilation, aging windows, and other structural issues. However, the air quality in most rooms was deemed satisfactory, with minimal signs of damp-related odours.
Recommendations were made to replace windows, improve ventilation, and clean up existing mould once the sources of moisture are addressed. The goal is to prevent further water damage and ensure a healthier environment moving forward. Despite the damp concerns, the overall risk to health was considered low, provided that proper maintenance and remediation steps are taken to control moisture and prevent further mould growth in the future.
