A recent mould and damp assessment was conducted at a site in Sutton Scotney by our team at Sysco Environmental LTD. The building, a small hotel undergoing refurbishment, was inspected due to concerns about air quality and mould growth in various rooms. The focus was on understanding the impact of mould spores on indoor air quality and identifying any problem areas.
The assessment revealed moderate mould contamination in several rooms and common areas, with elevated levels of certain mould spores like Aspergillus and Penicillium. These findings indicate that the air quality is slightly compromised in some spaces, though the overall risk to health is considered low to moderate. The spores likely originate from outdoor sources, but areas with persistent moisture or poor ventilation are contributing to the issue.
The report suggests that repairs and better maintenance are needed to improve air quality and reduce mould growth. While the current situation poses a low health risk, addressing the mould early will prevent it from worsening and ensure a healthier environment for occupants.
