Post-construction testing is often the final checkpoint before certification is awarded. It verifies that the building performs in line with the original design and modelling assumptions.
This can include air tightness testing, acoustic testing, and IAQ assessments. If results don’t meet the required standards, it can delay certification—or in some cases, reduce the final rating achieved.
It’s a bit like a reality check. You may have designed everything perfectly, but if the actual build doesn’t deliver, the certification reflects that.
Because of this, contractors and project teams usually treat this stage quite seriously… as they should.
