For UK projects, BREEAM tends to be the more natural fit simply because it was created for the British planning system, climate and construction standards. The categories and scoring feel very aligned with how UK projects are designed and regulated.
LEED is still perfectly valid in the UK, especially for global companies wanting consistency across international sites. But BREEAM often gives a more local, context-specific assessment.
“Better” really depends on the project’s goals. If you want international recognition, LEED is strong. If you want something more tailored to UK building practices, BREEAM usually edges ahead.
