How do we know if our air conditioning and ventilation systems are removing pollutants?
To determine if your air conditioning and ventilation systems are removing pollutants effectively:
- Conduct IAQ Testing:
- Measure pollutants like VOCs, and gases (COâ‚‚, CO, formaldehyde etc). To identify if fresh air is being circulated throughout the areas.
- Compare the internal results to the (bassline) outside air. If results are below or similar to the bassline usually means no issues, however if there are elevations internally compared to the external or elevations compared to guideline limits then a problem persists.
- Assess Pollutant Removal Efficiency:
- Compare pollutant levels before and after filtration.
- Test HVAC filter efficiency.
- Inspect System Design:
- Check for maintenance issues like clogged filters.
Regular testing and system checks will help confirm pollutant removal efficiency.
