In November 2024, an Air Monitoring Assessment was conducted by our team at a manufacturing facility in Alfreton to check air quality and ensure employees weren’t exposed to hazardous airborne substances. The assessment focused on areas where chemicals, acids and solvents are handled, including formulation, drum filling, and small pack operations.
The results were mostly positive, with air monitoring confirming that all tested substances were below workplace exposure limits. However, some areas showed slightly elevated levels of hydrogen fluoride and nitric acid, particularly in formulation and mixed acids sections. While exposure levels remained within safety guidelines, continued monitoring and improvements in ventilation were recommended to further reduce risks.
To enhance air quality, the report suggested checking and maintaining local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems, minimising unnecessary exposure to airborne substances and ensuring employees follow proper protective measures. Routine air monitoring and health surveillance programs were also advised to keep long-term exposure risks low.
By staying proactive and following these recommendations, we are confident the facility can maintain a safe and compliant work environment, ensuring employees remain protected while handling industrial materials.
