    What we test

    Post-fire residue is a complex mixture dominated by soot and char particles. Our primary expertise is microscopic identification of these combustion residues — revealing where the fire reached, how residue travelled, and what burned. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) can also be present and extended GC/MS analysis is available where required.

    Methodology

    Transmission and reflectance microscopy for char and soot morphology is our core method. Where the extended panel is requested, GC/MS is used for PAH speciation. We accept tape-lift, wipe, bulk and air filter samples.

    Using the results

    Results inform a restoration scope — surface decontamination, source removal, and post-clean clearance sampling. Reports are routinely used by loss adjusters and insurers to validate restoration decisions.
