Mould Air Quality Test in Cambridge

At Sysco Environmental Ltd, we recently conducted a comprehensive fungal monitoring survey in Cambridge for the NHS Trust.
Using settle plates and MEA (Malt Extract Agar) as the sampling medium, we collected samples from four different locations. Our analysis revealed that the plant room had a moderate presence of Aspergillus and Penicillium species, whereas the waiting room and dental corridor had minimal fungal spore counts.
Based on our findings, the overall indoor air quality in the property is not affected by elevated numbers of fungal spores. The detected species, though allergenic and potentially pathogenic, were present in quantities that suggest an outdoor origin rather than indoor contamination. Therefore, the exposure to fungal spores within the hospital is considered low, with a minimal risk to health for both sensitive and non-sensitive individuals.
To further ensure a safe environment, we recommend identifying and addressing any existing mould contamination sources. This can be achieved through professional inspections and remediation of any underlying damp issues.
