We carried out a Mould Spore Trap analysis from a property in Guildford. The analysis was to assess potential mould contamination in various indoor areas. The samples were collected from multiple locations, including living rooms, floor voids, and ceilings, with the aim of identifying fungal spores and related allergens.
The results showed the presence of common mould spores, such as Aspergillus/Penicillium and Cladosporium, as well as other environmental spores like Basidiospores and Ascospores. These findings suggest typical outdoor spores infiltrating indoor environments rather than active fungal growth within the property. Some of the detected spores are known allergens and may contribute to respiratory irritation, particularly for sensitive individuals.
While no severe contamination was identified, the presence of these allergens indicates a need for regular cleaning and proper ventilation. The report emphasised that the mould spores observed are commonly found in indoor environments but do not necessarily signal a major issue unless they begin to proliferate under poor conditions like excess moisture.
