Why does mould need to be analysed?

Analysing mould is essential to understanding the extent and nature of indoor contamination. Certain moulds, such as Aspergillus, Penicillium, or Stachybotrys, are known to produce allergens, irritants, or mycotoxins, which can pose health risks — particularly for individuals with asthma, allergies, or compromised immune systems. Analysis also assists in verifying suspected water damage and informs the scope of remediation. Without accurate identification, it is difficult to determine whether mould levels are abnormal or if remediation has been successful.
