THIS PRODUCT CONSISTS OF 1 STICK-TO-IT TAPE LIFT WITH LABORATORY ANALYSIS
The tape samples surfaces for biological contaminants. The flexible plastic microscopic slide has an adhesive area used for sampling biological and inorganic dust contamination on surfaces. The slide adhesive is simply pressed to the surface, and the slide placed in the provided mailer, ready for sending to a laboratory for analysis.
This is to:
Determine whether or not the visible stain, growth, etc is indicative of mould growth at the sample location
Identify moulds growing on the surface samples, as opposed by our test kit that will tell you if there is presence of mould
Whether the spore population on the surface represents a normal population or a skewed population of spore type. Also to note spore types that may indicate indoor mould growth.

Collecting Tape-Lift Samples for Microbiological Analysis
Write down necessary information such as the location and sample reference on the label of the Tape-lift case.
Take the Tape-lift out of the case, remove the protective liner, exposing the adhesive portion of the Tape-lift. Ensure that the adhesive is not touched to avoid contamination. Do not replace the protective liner after sampling.
Gently press down on the surface you want to sample. Do not press down hard as the adhesive is very tacky.
Carefully remove the slide from the surface and place the Tape-lift back inside the case and click it shut.
Important Notes
Ensure that all relevant information is recorded, and your samples are adequately marked.
Ensure that the surface tested is smooth and flat to get a good sample of the growth/ discolouration.
It is not recommended to take composite samples (same Tape-lift/ Sellotape used to sample multiple surfaces). This is because the source of fungal growth (if present) will then be indeterminable.
Ensure that you have not collected the underlying paint surface, this will make sample difficult/impossible to analyse. Apply only light pressure to the surface.
Avoid collecting heavy deposit. Only a small amount of surface material is necessary for identification. Excessive material makes the sample difficult/impossible to analyse.
Advantages
Surface sampling is inexpensive.
A direct microscopic examination of a surface shows exactly what is present.
Disadvantages
The presence of biological contaminants on a surface is not a direct indication of the air quality.
