We recently carried out an electromagnetic fields (EMF) assessment at a facility in Leith. The primary goal was to evaluate employees' exposure to EMFs from various machinery and equipment, ensuring compliance with the Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations 2016.
Using specialised equipment, we measured EMF levels at different locations within the facility, including switchboards, compressors, motors, and control panels. Our measurements indicated that the EMF levels were well within the safety limits for employees not at particular risk. For those at particular risk, like individuals with implanted medical devices, we recommended maintaining safe distances from specific equipment to prevent any potential interference.
The survey found no significant risks from the measured EMF levels, but we advised regular reviews and updates of the risk assessment, especially if there are significant changes in the work environment. Additionally, we suggested providing relevant information and training to employees, maintaining health records, and implementing measures to reduce EMF exposure if needed.
Overall, the facility's EMF levels are safe, and the project highlights our commitment to ensuring a secure working environment by conducting thorough EMF assessments and providing practical safety recommendations.
