This project consisted of a hazardous substance exposure at a facility in Rotherham. The goal was to check the air quality and ensure that employees weren’t exposed to harmful substances. Sysco Environmental Ltd carried out air monitoring across various work areas, including dark rooms and film processing rooms. They looked into the presence of substances like acetic acid, aluminium sulphate, and diethylene glycol.
The assessment found that exposure levels were well below the legal limits, meaning employees weren’t at significant risk. However, it was noted that protective equipment and proper ventilation systems were crucial to maintaining these safe conditions. Even though the air quality was generally safe, the report emphasised the importance of regular monitoring and testing to keep exposure levels as low as possible.
Regular health check-ups for employees and adequate training on handling hazardous substances were recommended to ensure ongoing safety. The facility’s management demonstrated a proactive approach by incorporating necessary precautions, including personal protective equipment and ventilation, to control potential risks.
