In December 2024, a Lead in Blood Assessment was conducted at a metalworking site in Blackpool to monitor employee exposure to lead and ensure workplace safety. The assessment involved blood tests for nine workers, checking whether their lead levels remained within safe limits.
The results were positive, with all tested individuals recording blood lead levels well below the regulatory limit. These findings confirm that current workplace controls, including ventilation, hygiene measures and protective equipment, are effectively limiting exposure.
Since all results were within safe limits, no immediate action is required. However, the report recommended continuing routine blood lead monitoring, reinforcing hygiene protocols, and maintaining proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep exposure levels low.
By staying proactive with regular testing and safe work practices, the site can continue providing a safe and compliant environment, ensuring workers remain protected from potential lead exposure.
