Sysco Environmental Ltd conducted a Lead (Pb) survey and risk assessment at a two-storey semi-detached house located in London. The property, currently occupied and slated for refurbishment, required a thorough inspection to identify any lead-containing materials.
Our team meticulously examined all accessible areas within the building, including internal spaces like the hallway, stairwell, living room, and bedrooms. Using both visual inspections and XRF analysis, we ensured comprehensive coverage while minimising disruption to the occupants. The scope of the survey also included bulk sample collection and dust wipe sampling to evaluate the condition and extent of lead-based materials.
The assessment followed stringent industry standards and guidelines, including those set out in the HSE documents HSG264 and L132, to ensure accurate identification and safe handling of any hazardous materials. Various surfaces, including interior and exterior painted areas, were sampled to detect and quantify lead content. Our findings provide a detailed register of lead-containing materials, crucial for compliance with current health and safety regulations.
