Lead Warrington

Hazardous Substances Report on Lead Monitoring in Warrington Lab

Sysco Environmentals team were invited to a lab in Warrington to assess lead exposure to their staff. The aim was to check how much lead staff might be exposed to and whether current safety measures were effective. Air and surface monitoring were done to see if the levels of lead in the lab met workplace safety standards.

Interestingly, no lead-related tasks were happening on the day of the visit, but static air monitors were set up to get background readings. The results were pretty reassuring—lead levels were either undetectable or far below the safety limits. Even surface wipe samples showed minimal contamination.

The lab seems well-organised, with good ventilation systems in place and personal protective equipment available, although staff weren’t using respiratory protection regularly as it’s not required for their current activities. The team is trained in safety measures, and housekeeping practices like cleaning up regularly help minimise risks.

While things seem under control, the report suggests more monitoring during busier times to ensure safety during more lead-heavy work. Overall, the findings were positive, but keeping up with safety checks and improving on a few small areas should keep the environment safe for workers in the long run.
