Is a report or certificate provided after an LEV system test?
According to the HSE guidance HSG258, the report must contain:
1. System Details
- Unique identification (system or unit number)
- Description of the LEV system (type, function, location)
2. Examination and Test Results - Test methods used
- Measured airflow and pressure readings
- Performance comparison against design or benchmark standards
- Results of visual inspection and functional checks
3. Assessment of Effectiveness - Clear statement on whether the system is:
- Performing effectively
- Inadequate or failing to control exposure
- Requiring remedial action
4. Remedial Actions Required - Details of any repairs, maintenance, or adjustments needed to restore performance
5. Certification Details - Name and signature of the competent person
- Qualifications or accreditation (e.g. BOHS P601)
- Date of test
- Next due date (usually 14 months later unless a shorter period is required)
