How can I reduce plastic fume exposure in the workplace?

Start with process control. Lowering the temperature during heating can reduce the breakdown of plastic and the release of toxic fumes. Next, make sure your ventilation system — especially local exhaust ventilation (LEV) — is working properly and positioned close to the emission source. Use enclosed systems where possible, and rotate tasks to limit individual exposure. Regular air monitoring and staff training also go a long way in keeping risk levels down.
