Workers should receive silica dust training when they first start a job where exposure is possible, and then regular refresher training - typically every 12 months.
Training should cover what RCS is, the health risks, the control measures in place, and how to use any PPE provided. It’s also vital to explain why these measures matter, so workers understand it’s not just "red tape" but about protecting their long-term health.
If work methods or equipment change, additional training should be provided straight away.
