Why is RCS exposure dangerous?

When materials like sand, stone, or concrete are cut, drilled, or ground, a very fine dust known as Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS) is produced. The particles are so tiny that they are invisible to the human eye, but they can enter the lungs through the respiratory system.
What follows is where the danger lies. These tiny, pointed particles can become lodged in lung tissue after being breathed. Repeated exposure over time may result in irritation and irreparable damage. Lung cancer is among the major health issues that may result from the irreversible harm.

The fact that symptoms do not usually appear right away is one of the challenging aspects. For years, you can be feeling good while harm is subtly accumulating in the background. Control measures, adequate ventilation, and appropriate respiratory protection are therefore quite important.
