How often should rubber exposure be monitored in workplaces?

The frequency of checking for rubber exposure at workplaces is determined by the rules, in place. How risky the exposure is well as any changes in work methods or tasks involved. The first check usually happens when a new method is introduced or if there are changes occurring. For operations the checks might take place yearly or every six months especially if the levels of exposure are near the limits. However if past tests consistently show low levels of exposure then the checks could be done less often. In places where there are levels of risk or varying levels of exposure it may be necessary to monitor things often to keep workers safe.

Failure to monitor the presence of rubber fumes and dust could pose health risks, to workers such as complications and skin irritations caused by excessive exposure to harmful substances. If exposure levels are not monitored adequately this could result in levels that may lead to long term health issues and higher chances of developing ailments like asthma or even cancer in severe instances. Employers inability to monitor the situation results in a delay in taking actions like enhancing ventilation or ensuring personal protective equipment (PPE) can result in poor work conditions and may lead to legal or regulatory issues.
