At Sysco Environmental Ltd, we recently conducted a welding fumes monitoring survey for a client in Grantham. Our primary focus was to ensure a safe working environment by evaluating the levels of welding fumes across various work areas. Special attention was given to the metal workshop, where welding activities are most frequent. During our assessment, we identified areas for improvement, including the consistent use of local exhaust ventilation systems to effectively reduce exposure. Additionally, we recommended avoiding dry sweeping with brushes and instead using vacuum cleaners fitted with HEPA filters or wet cleaning methods. This practice minimizes the likelihood of producing dust clouds, thereby reducing the potential for harmful particulate exposure. Our comprehensive findings and recommendations are designed to help the client maintain superior indoor air quality standards, thus protecting the health and well-being of their employees.
