In January 2025, a Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) Assessment was carried out at a facility in Winsford to review the level of vibration workers are exposed to during their day-to-day use of power tools in fabrication and fitting tasks. The goal was to make sure workers are staying well within the safety thresholds set by regulations and to see where improvements might be needed.
The assessment looked at various tools, including drills and grinders and how long each was typically used during a shift. The results were clear: all operatives fell below both the action value and the exposure limit, meaning there's no current concern over HAV risk based on reported usage.
That said, our report still recommended maintaining a strong prevention strategy. This includes routine maintenance of tools, more accurate tracking of actual trigger times and ongoing health surveillance just to be safe. Operators were also encouraged to report any symptoms early.
Overall, it’s a positive outcome which showed exposure levels are under control and with a few small tweaks, the site can continue protecting its team while getting the job done efficiently.
