How often should hand and arm vibration (HAV) assessments be carried out?
HAV assessments should be conducted at different stages to prevent risk to workers and to meet the health requirements and of safety laws:
- During Initial Tool or Machinery Use
- Whenever Work Conditions Change:
- In addition, as part of routine risk management, such assessments should be done periodically
- In Response to Worker Health Concerns
- When Legal or Regulatory Requirements Specify
Performing HAV assessments at the mentioned intervals enables employers to reduce the health risks to the workers, provide a safe working environment and meet the requirements of occupational health and safety. If regular assessments are not made, it will result to increased cases of worker compensation, legal suits and low productivity.
