Who is responsible for monitoring WBV exposure in the workplace?

Ultimately, the employer is responsible for monitoring WBV exposure. UK law states that businesses must assess vibration risks and keep them under control. Health and Safety managers often take the lead, but employers can assign the task to supervisors, external consultants, or occupational hygienists.

Employees also have a role to play. They should report uncomfortable vibrations, follow safe work practices, and use equipment correctly. A positive workplace culture encourages people to report issues early, rather than waiting until symptoms show up.

While monitoring is mainly the employer’s duty, it is most effective when everyone participates.
