Sysco's team were invited to a recycling facility in Doncaster to carry out a workplace noise assessment. The project aimed to evaluate employee exposure to occupational noise and recommend appropriate control measures.The assessment involved monitoring noise levels in various areas of the facility, including the yard, screening line, and heavy machinery operations. Personal dosimetry and short-term measurements were used to capture noise exposure data for different job roles.

Results indicated that some workers, particularly those in the yard area near the mill, were exposed to noise levels exceeding recommended limits. The report highlighted the need for improved noise control measures, especially when the mill is running. Key recommendations included implementing engineering controls like enclosing noisy equipment, adopting administrative measures such as job rotation, and ensuring proper use of hearing protection. The importance of regular health surveillance and employee training on noise risks was also emphasised.
