HS039: When You’re Dealing with Steel and Scale
"Treating Lead-Painted Metal Surfaces" (HS039) gets into the industrial side of things. Think bridges, tanks, railings — places where blasting and high-exposure risks are part of the job.
I worked on a bridge repaint where the original coating was cracked and flaking. Full abrasive blasting was required. We wrapped the scaffold in shrink wrap, installed negative pressure ventilation, twin HEPA extractors, perimeter air monitoring — the works. Thanks to HS039, we had clear documentation and defensible controls from the start.
